02

Our practice

We believe that access to specialist surgical care should not be complicated, costly, or stressful. Our practice was founded on a simple idea — that every patient deserves to see an experienced specialist, feel genuinely heard, and have a clear path forward for their care.

Our two specialist surgeons, Mr Yuan Cheng and Dr Chiu Kang, both hold consultant positions at Melbourne public hospitals, where they are actively involved in teaching and training the next generation of surgeons. This means you are being cared for by surgeons who are not only highly experienced clinicians, but who are trusted by their peers to lead and educate within the profession.

At ECBS, you are in experienced hands — from your very first consultation through to your recovery.

03

Why ECBS

Bulk-billed consultations

Every surgical consultation — your first appointment and each follow-up — is bulk billed. No out-of-pocket costs for patients with Medicare.

In your language

Mr Cheng consults in English and Mandarin. Dr Kang consults in English, Mandarin and Cantonese — so you can speak freely, ask questions comfortably, and truly understand your options.

Teaching surgeons

Both our surgeons hold consultant appointments at Melbourne public hospitals and are actively training the next generation — a reflection of the trust their peers place in their clinical judgement.

Your pathway to surgery

Whether you have private health insurance or not, we'll work with you to find the best pathway. Private patients can have surgery at a private hospital. For patients without private cover, we can arrange surgery through our public hospital appointments.
